My project uses the new digital stamp collection, “Hey Girl”, which features three gorgeous images and three sentiments. And for something different today, I am showing you how I used some of these images in a two-page mixed media spread in my art journal.
My project not only incorporates the unique silhouette image of a woman and a butterfly, but also some stamping and embossing with paste and stencils on a painted background. Let’s get started!
Details:
- Created a backdrop using Distress oxide reinkers in “Tea Rose,” “Spun Sugar,” and “Picket Fence.”
- Sponged “Vintage Photo” Distress Ink along the edges of the pages before splattering more of it across the two pages for added interest.
- Used a burlap stencil and a roses stencil with white embossing paste to add texture to the borders of the pages.
- Sponged additional “Vintage Photo” ink over the embossing paste after it dried.
- Stamped a compass image several times using “Vintage Photo” ink.
- Sized and printed out the silhouette image onto patterned paper and then colored it using Spectrum Noir “Tri-Blend” markers.
- Sponged the edges of the printed image using “Vintage Photo” ink and adhered to the left hand page.
- Sized, printed (on the same patterned paper as the silhouette), colored, and fussy cut out the butterfly and adhered it to the right hand page.
- Stamped a Butterfly “trail” to the left of the image.
- Sized and printed out one of the sentiments from the collection, “I miss your face, sponging the edges as before before adhering it above the butterfly.
- Added several rose gold sequins for a finishing touch!
