Isn’t The Ton’s “Haute Gala Dress” stamp set gorgeous? I’ve been dying to use it, but also Altenew’s beautiful new (and wide!) rolls of washi tape. So why not combine them and make a “gala” ballgown dress even more “gala”? It’s a perfect marriage, for sure!
I ended up making three cards: one using Altenew’s blue & white “Monochrome Washi Tape”
(4.5“ wide!) and two cards with Altenew’s pink, red, & purple “Floral Flurries Washi Tape”
(6 7/8” wide!) for the “fabric” on the gowns.
I started by stamping the girl on three separate pieces of white cardstock and coloring her skin and hair with several Kuretake “Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.” I die cut her out three times using The Ton’s coordinating die before “paper piecing” the bodices at the top of the gowns.
I covered three different pieces of leftover card stock with the Altenew washi tapes and then die cut the bottoms of the gowns out with the same Ton coordinating die. After adding touches of sparking embossing powders to the dresses for added detail, I adhered the dress bottoms to the girls. (It’s like dressing paper dolls in a way. LOL!)
Note: the gowns on the two red cards have different bodices and glitter details on the skirts. I used The Ton’s “Rose Gold” embossing powder on one, and Wow‘s “Fool’s Gold” embossing glitter on the other.
After I adhered the now dressed girls to coordinating colored 5×7 card bases, I stamped one of the sentiments from the stamp set (“Life is a Party . . .”) with VersaMark ink on each card and then heat embossed them with the same embossing powders used on the dresses. Sequins added to the gowns and glitter sprinkled all around were the finishing touches on all three of these cards.
I hope you enjoyed today’s cards!
