Welcome to the “Red, White, and You” Blog Hop!
Nothing says “Fourth of July” than flying our flag and spending the day at the beach building sandcastles. My card today says just that. I used LOTS of MFT Stamp products to craft this patriotic card.
This cute little “beach babe” is the MFT “Pure Innocence Beach Day” stamp. I stamped her with copic-friendly ink and colored her skin, sand pail, tube, and sandcastle only; as I planned to “paper piece” her swimsuit and hat. For that, I used some of the papers in the We R Memory Keepers
“Red, White & Blue” 6×6 paper pad, which I stamped, fussy cut out, and dressed her in.
On to the background. I started with an A2 card base using MFT’s “Nightshift Blue,” and adhered a slightly smaller white cardstock matte layer on top of it. I used the MFT “Wave” stencil to represent both ocean waves and flag stripes. On a small piece of MFT “Wild Cherry” cardstock, I dabbedVersaMark clear pigment ink in between the waves on the stencil. Next, I brushed Ranger Perfect Pearls pigment powder, “Biscotti,” over the clear ink, brushing off the excess with a Swiffer duster cloth. I adhered this red layer of card stock onto the white layer.
The final layer was for the beach, ocean, and sky backdrop. I used MFT’s “Cloud” stencil and blended several blue Distress Oxide inks to represent the clouds and the water. The beach sand was created using Papertrey Ink’s “Sand Swatch” stamp and several brown Distress Oxide inks.
I adhered this final layer on top, cutting it so it showed a strip of the red cardstock on the left. I adhered the sandcastle and mini flag onto the beach and then used the coordinating MFT “Beach Day” die to cut out the little girl before popping her up on foam dots for a more 3-D look.
The finishing touch? The “Happy 4thof July” sentiment, a stamp I had in my stash from Stampabilities.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card! Happy 4th!
