I love to make baby cards, especially when I can personalize them to the theme and colors of the new baby’s nursery. I always try to find out nursery colors and themes before I sit down to create a baby card. In this case, I knew I wanted to mimic  the room’s “Adventure” theme and include the soft blue, lime green, and light gray colors found on the crib bedding in the room. Mountains, an airplane, and even a compass rose were included in the print of the crib sheet and blanket.

I inked up Stampin’Up!’s “World Map” background stamp with VersaMark ink and stamped it onto MFT’s “Sno-cone” card stock before coating the image with Brutus Monroe’s “Alabaster” ultra-fine embossing powder and heat embossing. The mountains and trees were cut from dies that were in my Hero Art’s MMH December card kit and adhered to the bottom of the card.

I stamped the airplane from the Stampin’Up!’ “The Sky’s the Limit” stamp set with Tim Holtz ‘s Distress Oxide ink in “Peacock Feathers” and fussy cut it out. I foam mounted the plane over a cloud die from MFT’s “Cloud Trio Die-namics,” which I had stamped with a vapor trail from the same SU stamp set.

Finding a sentiment stamp that would exactly match the wording on the crib sheet was challenging, but I finally located this “The Adventure Begins” rubber stamp from Ella Celebration on Amazon. I stamped the sentiment with Tim Holtz ‘s Distress Oxide ink in “Twisted Citron” and then heat embossed it with Brutus Monroe’s “Icicle” ultra-fine embossing powder. I framed the stamped sentiment with white card stock that I colored to match exactly with the same green oxide ink.

Finishing touches? Always! I came across a Tim Holtz “Idea-ology” compass rose charm in my stash, and dressed it up with some chiffon ribbon I “died” with the “Twisted Citron” oxide ink. I adhered the charm to the bottom corner of the card and then “dressed up” the trees with “snow” from a Marvy “Snow Marker” pen. Everything was adhered to an A2 Neenah solar white 110# card stock base.

The Mom-to-be had told me ahead of time that she would be displaying my card on a shelf in the baby’s room, so I am glad I was able to customize it to fit the nursery décor.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card!
