Hello everyone, Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs with a “new-to-me” technique of coloring on Dura-lar film using colored pencils. I used Joy Clair‘s Forever Friends digital stamp set for my card today.
This fun stamp collection features one flower bunch and four fabulous sentiments for many occasions.
After watching a tutorial recently on Splitcoast Stampers, I learned about a product called “Grafix Matte Dura-Lar Film.” The product description on Amazon says, “Grafix Matte Dura-Lar .005 Translucent Film is a polyester film that is specially treated on both sides to accept lead, ink, charcoal, paint, and colored pencil. Will not bead, chip, run, or absorb moisture. Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth for continued use. Great for painting compositions, screen printing and artwork overlays.”
To begin, I combined the flower image and a “Happy Birthday” sentiment from Joy Clair‘s Floral Friendship collection in Microsoft Word using an A2 template and then printed it out on the Dura-Lar film using my laser printer. Then I flipped the film over and colored it on the back side using Polychromos pencils.
Next, I printed out the images two more times – first on plain white card stock and then on gray card stock.
Then I cut both the Dura-Lar version and the gray card stock version down to just the center portion of the image/sentiment and adhered the two together carefully using just a light tough of glue behind some of the blossoms and leaves.
Finally, I placed these combined layers to line up with the white base layer as if it were one continuous image. I added a “Happy Everything” die cut sentiment from my stash to the front of the card.
