For this week’s challenge, the color combination was red, green, and white, so I pulled out Tim Holtz’s “Candied Apple,” “Mowed Lawn,” and “Peeled Paint” distress inks to do some water coloring. I chose Wplus 9’s “Kind Soul” stamp set and coordinating die to be the focal point of my card. This is such a fun image to watercolor . . . you can’t go wrong. LOL!
Using my MISTI, I stamped the image with VersaMark ink onto Canson XL 140# cold press watercolor cardstock, and then heat embossed it using Ranger’s gold embossing powder. Embossing makes the water coloring process so much quicker, as the tiny “wells” formed by the embossed outline pretty much prevents you from going out of the lines.
I adhered a green and white checked patterned paper from the Carta Bella “Spring Market” collection on to an A2 card base of Neenah 110# cardstock. Next I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment “Hello” from the same stamp set with Brutus Monroe’s “Raven” ultra-fine embossing powder, and then adhered a thin strip of cardstock coated with the same gold embossing powder above it. I foam mounted the die cut floral image, so it overlapped the gold strip. Scattered gold sequins finished off my card.
