This stamp set from Picket Fence Studios called “Yes, I Do Drive Stick” caught my attention immediately. I just knew I had to ink this baby up! I wanted to make both the hilarious sentiment and the broomstick “pop” on the card, so I decided to make a “Harvest Moon”/nighttime Distress Oxide ink background to do just that.

I started by creating a circle-shaped “stencil” out of leftover card stock, placing it over a white card stock layer, and then sponging Distress Oxide inks in “Spiced Marmalade” and “Carved Pumpkin” to create my “Harvest Moon.” I love how these colors blended so well together.

Then I placed a mask over the moon to protect it so I could blend three shades of purple Distress Oxides plus “Black Soot” around it to create a night time sky effect. I sprinkled some water droplets over the ink to add some texture to the sky.

After unmasking the moon, I had this cool background.

I stamped both the sentiment and the broomstick over the finished distressed background using Verafine “Black Onyx” ink and clear embossing powder to make it really pop.

Finishing touches? I mounted my finished distressed background onto an A2 black card base. Finally, I die cut a few bats and adhered them over the moon to add to this eerie Halloween effect.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card!
