Hi everyone! I am up on the Trinity Stamps‘ Blog today as their Guest Designer for September! Today I have a fun “just because . . .” card featuring Trinity’s “Ocean Reef Builder” stamp set and “Scenes from the Sea” layered stencil set.
With Labor Day Weekend just around the corner, this card plays homage to the quickly approaching end of summer. Actually as a 6th grade teacher, my summer ended mid-August, when I entered the Zoom-filled “halls” (actually my spare bedroom/now classroom) of “Remote Learning.”
Let’s get started!
I began by masking off a rectangular area on my card panel and used Trinity’s “Scenes from the Sea” layered stencil set and Distress Oxide inks to create the sandy ocean bottom and bubbling sea water. I love that this Trinity stencil thinks of all the little details, including sea grass and sandy mounds.
Next, I gold heat embossed the sentiment, “You Made Me Ink!“ above the ocean water. This sentiment is from Trinity‘s “Ocean Reef Builder” stamp set. I didn’t realize until I “googled” it that this is actually a well-known line that “Pearl,” the octopus in the movie, “Finding Nemo” said. Did you? Using a stencil from my stash, I created the purple firework image to add to the surprised tone of the sentiment.
Next I colored the octopus, also from the “Ocean Reef Builder” stamp set, with several shades of coral and red Copic Markers and die cut it out. I added gold Stickles Glitter Glue on its arms for added texture.
To finish the whole card off, I backed the base in purple card stock and added some of Trinity’s “Caribbean Ocean Confetti Mix” at the bottom of the ocean floor.
I hope you enjoyed my summer-themed card. I look forward to sharing my next guest card for Trinity Stamps with you soon.
Thank you so much for stopping by! And don’t forget to check out the Trinity Stamps Shop for more crafty amazingness.
