I ‘ve always loved this color combination, so when this week’s “Color Throwdown Challenge” colors were yellow, green, aqua, and white, I knew I was game! It makes me long for the spring that we are NOT having here in the Chicago area this April. LOL! This is my first entry into the challenge which is hosted every Wednesday with a new color combo by a DT member. You can see all the entries for this week on Instagram @ #colorthrowdown and #ctd488.
For this week’s challenge I chose the Tim Holtz Sizzix “Globe” die as my focal point. I die cut it twice —once out of Stampin’Up!’s “Daffodil Delight” cardstock for the latitude and longitude lines on the globe, and a second time out of Simon Says Stamp’s “Green Leaf” cardstock for the continents.
I fussy cut out the continents and adhered them to the corresponding continents on the yellow globe.
For the ocean background, I water colored a piece of watercolor cardstock with a mixture of two Gansai Tambi blues to create the aqua hue I was looking for. I created the sentiment, “You Color My World,” using Word on my computer and printed it out on the same Daffodil Delight cardstock I used for the globe. I cut it into an “equator” strip to run across the width of the globe.
Next I stamped the “Forever & Always” sentiment from Simon Says Stamp“Floral Bliss” stamp set (June 2017 “Blissful” Card Kit ) in Tim Holtz’s “Peacock Feathers” distress oxide ink on to an A2 card base of Neenah solar white 110# cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment twice —once in the Brutus Monroe “Alabaster” ultra-fine embossing powder and then in the Brutus Monroe “Icicle” ultra-fine embossing powder to give it that “3-D” embossed look.
Before foam mounting the globe onto the card base, I backed it with the ocean background cardstock and wrapped the sentiment strip around the edges.
As a finishing touch, I adhered a small rhinestone to where our “world” is now . . . Chicago.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card!
I love love this card.
This is beautiful! And how sweet that you can customize the rhinestone location! Do you have an Etsy store? You should!
