Candy Corn Counts as a Vegetable, Right? – Guest Designing with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello there, Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs. I am feeling a little bummed that this is my 4th and final post as the September Guest Designer for Newton’s Nook Designs. But I certainly enjoyed the opportunity to showcase Newton’s Nook adorable images for you every Monday this month. I want to especially thank Jennifer and Samantha for inviting me to be on the blog. It was an honor!

The hint I posted last week for today’s card was “Should candy corn be included in the ‘Food Pyramid’?” Did you guess that I would be featuring the Candy Corn stamp set and stencil? You guessed right!

This final card has a touch of “silly” in it as I literally played out the stamp set’s sentiment, “Candy Corn counts as a Vegetable, right?”. I sponged shades of green through the Candy Corn stencil and Copic-colored the candy corn images themselves in those same vegetable green shades.

Card Details:

  • I created an A2 card base and layered green cardstock over it.
  • I used the new 3-piece Candy Corn layered stencil set to create a “three-toned” candy corn background (using dark green, medium green, and white pigment inks on kraft cardstock.) This was so easy to accomplish as all three stencils feature etching of the opposite layers for easy alignment.
  • The candy corn images were stamped and colored with Copic markers and die cut out.
  • I created a planter stand out of green cardstock and cut the top edge with a grass die.
  • The sentiment “Candy Corn counts as a Vegetable, right?” was white heat embossed on top and then adhered over the “planted corn”.

I hope you enjoyed my literal interpretation of this funny stamp sentiment. I know I was giggling just a little as I was creating this card. And I hope I was able to inspire you this month to make Autumn or Halloween cards using Newton’s Nook products.

Stay Safe . . .
