“Happy Haunts” – Guest Designing with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello there, Priscilla here from Nubble Light Designs. I am delighted to be back again as the September Guest Designer for Newton’s Nook Designs!

Cue the creepy, eerie Halloween music because for today’s post, I’ve created a haunted night scene complete with an old graveyard, a spooky mansion, ominous-looking trees draped in spider webs, and . . . one totally unexpected traditional jack-o-lantern. LOL!   I used 2 Newton Nook stamp sets to make this card: the just released Count Newton set (coordinating dies are available) and the Spooky Street stamp set.

I love to make “colorless” scenes sometimes . . . they are “unexpected” you might say. Today’s card uses only black, white, and gray.

Card Details:

  1. Using a stencil from the stash, I created a brick wall background using black embossing paste on dark gray cardstock.
  2. I added a stitched hill using a die and the same gray card stock.
  3. I stamped the spooky house and trees from the Spooky Street set on white card stock with black pigment ink and then cut them out using my Brother “ScanNCut2” machine.
  4. I stamped the headstones and jack-o-lantern from the Count Newton set with Copic-friendly ink before die cutting them out, and then colored them in several shades of gray Copics.
  5. Time to make my haunted night scene! I adhered the spooky trees to the brick wall and the headstones to the hillside.
  6. I foam mounted the spooky house to create more dimension and “hung” the jack-o-lantern from a tree branch.
  7. For the sentiment “happy haunts” from the Spooky Streets stamp set, I white heat embossed it on gray card stock and then foam mounted it (topped with a flying bat) above my scene.
  8. For a cool finishing touch, I “strung” store-bought spider webs from the tree branches to the elements below.
  9. I adhered the completed scene on to an A2 card base.

I hope you enjoyed my “haunted” Halloween card. Stay tuned to for a very bold harvest-themed card next week, using the contrasting colors of rust and navy.

Thank you so much for stopping by! And don’t forget to check out all the new Autumn and Halloween products in the Newton’s Nook shop!

Stay Safe . . .

Priscilla🎃
